Our Yearly Project: Malaysia Army Visit K9 Metropolitan Specialists UK for Working Dog Selection

Each year, K9 Metropolitan Specialists UK are honoured to welcome the Malaysia Army to our UK facility for their annual working dog selection and procurement project. This ongoing partnership reflects a trusted relationship built on professionalism, transparency, and a shared commitment to the highest K9 standards.

A Trusted Annual Collaboration

This year's visit saw the Malaysia Army team, accompanied by their official army veterinarian, assess a selection of 26 partly trained working dogs. Each dog was evaluated through structured demonstrations showcasing environmental confidence, control, drive, and trainability - essential qualities for operational service.
The army veterinarian carried out detailed health assessments on-site, then liaised directly with our UK veterinary partners to review medical histories and export requirements. This collaborative process ensures complete transparency and continuity of care from selection through to deployment overseas.

Preparing for Export

With the selections now confirmed, our team is entering the export preparation phase. Over the coming weeks, the chosen dogs will undergo:

  • Final veterinary checks and certification under DEFRA and Malaysian import regulations.
  • Training refreshers to maintain focus and conditioning before travel.
  • Export crate familiarisation to promote calm and confidence during the journey.
  • Flight and logistics coordination to guarantee a safe and stress-free transition.

Every stage is handled with precision, welfare, and compliance at the forefront.
